    Safety Measures

Morocco is vulnerable to earthquakes because it is located in a tectonically active area. Morocco has put in place safeguards such as strong building regulations, renovating older buildings, earthquake early warning systems, public awareness programs, and international partnerships to avoid catastrophe.
The North African Tsunami and Earthquake Monitoring and Information Center (NATEM) is one of the early warning systems for earthquakes that Morocco has invested in. These technologies give the public and government prior alert, allowing for prompt preparation and evacuation, reducing the impact of earthquakes. These initiatives aim to safeguard people, the nation's infrastructure, and the economy from the catastrophic effects of earthquakes.

Fun Fact! Morocco has seen earthquakes of various sizes over the years, with the most recent significant one taking place in the Al Hoceima region in 2004.

  2. WOW, you are in the news today!: A 6.8 just hit this country (more than 1000 lost lives so far). The Morocco earthquake happened because the Earth's plates are moving and rubbing against each other. This caused a lot of stress to build up, which eventually released in the form of an earthquake:
